Hello and Welcome!

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to Cupidsama's Anime Blog. It is my pleasure to be hosting such a wonderful audience, as I break down my thoughts and opinions about all things anime. It is my intentions to provide insightfulness as I discuss my thoughts and opinions surrounding content anime media, and I do hope to entertain you all in the process. As a newly founded blog page, I am eager to begin our journey together, as we approach the future with this new sense of kinship.

Meet the Author

As the author of this page I'd like to take some time to introduce myself as we will be spending a considerable amount of time together. For the previous decade I have been a casual anime enthusiast much like the rest of you. It's been a very special form of media to me, and as such, I decided to channel my passion, and share my experiences with my fellow enjoyers.

What is my favourite anime?

My favourite anime is Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. I cannot discern whether or not it is recency bias, but Frieren was such an wonderful experience, it had really left an impression on me. To the longeval elf Frieren, a humans lifespan is but a fleeting moment. Determined to learn more about humans and most importantly, Himmel the Hero, we relive the history of Frieren, witnessing the changes in her interpretation of the world, and ultimately her heart. I believe it to have approached the themes surrounding 'life's journey' in such a unique and awe-inspiring way.

Who is my favourite anime character?

With so many characters to exist it is extremely difficult to pick only one. As such, I have comprised a small list of 134 characters that I absolutely adore... Jk. These two are at the top of my list.

Fern. Fern is a main character from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. If I were to summarise her character, I'd say she is the manifestation of the word nonchalant. Between how she approaches battle situations with gracefulness and shutting down Frieren's absurdities, there is only one thing breaks through this little ice queens wall, Stark. How she approaches everything thrown in her direction in such a cool and at times, comical way, I cannot help but love this character.

Sakuta Azusagawa. Our very own nonchalant rascal, Sakuta, is from the 'Rascal Does not Dream' series. While it is very fun and enjoyable to witness his masochistic tendencies as Mai shuts down his perversion, Sakuta oddly expresses great determination and reliability when many abnormal oddities are happening to the people around him. In that sense, he is quite admirable.

What are my favourite themes within Anime?

I very much enjoy anime that cover topics of the heart. Love, grief, relationships, I love when an anime can unpack these subjects and draw out its emotions to the audiences. Oregairu unpacks genuine vs superficiality in relationships as the characters search for real, vulnerable relationships and grow away from codependency. Plastic Memories explores love and grief. The nature of life is that it must come to an end, some earlier than other. This anime conveys a message that albeit painful, we are to cherish the memories given to us by our loved ones. The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity is a romance built to have you kicking your feet. It unpacks prejudice, and overcoming prejudice in the pursuit of real relationships, and conveys we are more than the labels given to us. Anime that can successfully tug on my heartstrings, I find to be the most memorable.

What to Expect

For my blog I'll be unpacking my thoughts about anime, discussing the themes and topics covered, if they are done well or not. I will not limit my writing to new and trendy anime, as I hope that my blog can shine light on lesser known or unpopular anime that are just as enjoyable to watch. You might expect my posts to lean more towards anime with heavier themes, but that is not to say I wont cover anything else. I enjoy anime in its entirety, and hope to express that through my writing.

The frequency of my posts may vary. I intent to post at least once weekly, but with how busy life can get at times, it is not a guarantee. Perhaps in the future if my blog gains popularity, I'll be able to devote more time to this blog. I very much am a beginner at this, and I am acutely aware that I am not the most eloquently and outspoken individual, but my intentions are to share my enjoyment for anime as a fellow fan with my readers. I trust that my readers will be patient and encouraging, as they witness my growth as an author.
